Several Senate offices echoed the importance of having constituents contact their Senators directly to express their support of Title VII and Title VIII funding. In response to this feedback, HPNEC will be hosting and participating in a Twitter Storm on September 5th from 11:00AM-1:00PM, to coincide with the markup the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Other Related Agencies will be having on its appropriations bill.
Our Goal: To flood the Senate with reminders of the importance of Title VII and Title VIII programs, which work to increase the supply, distribution, and diversity of the health care workforce.
Message: Collectively, the Title VII and VIII programs support the health care workforce by filling in gaps not addressed by traditional workforce channels and improve access to care for rural, urban, and other disadvantaged communities. The programs also focus on improving the diversity and cultural competency of the health care workforce, and in turn, improve quality of care for the country’s most vulnerable patients.
In your tweets, please include the importance of GWEP funding. Below are some examples;
- “10,000 Americans turn 65 every day with only 7000 geriatricians available. Support FULL funding for geriatric funding #TogetherWeCare”
- “Enhancing geriatric/elder care training and expertise” is one of @HRSAgov top 5 priorities. Fully fund Title VII GWEPs #TogetherWeCare”
- “29 states have Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Programs (GWEP). Fully fund the GWEPs under Title VII and VIII #TogetherWeCare”
