Spotlight: 2019 Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Programs Announced


In June, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced 48 Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Programs (GWEP) in 35 states and 2 territories.  HRSA provided grants to GWEP sites that improve health care for older adults and maximize patient and family engagement to health professions schools, health care facilities, and programs leading to certification as a certified nursing assistant.  The focus is on transforming clinical training environments into integrated geriatrics and primary care systems with increased community engagement.

In the last funding cycling, HRSA awarded 44 GWEPs in 29 states.  This announcement increases the number of GWEPs by 4, and expands into more states and territories.  Below is the full list of the new 2019 GWEPs (Click here for a full list, including 2018 awardees):
